DSC PowerSeries Neo
LTE External Antenna Upgrade

DSC PowerSeries Neo LTE communicator modules use an RP-SMA antenna port. DSC's own extension kits top out at 50 feet and low gain. For shielded enclosures, basements, and fringe sites, a higher-gain external antenna is the right upgrade.

Important: RP-SMA is not standard SMA

DSC Neo LTE communicators use RP-SMA (Reverse Polarity SMA) — the pin and socket are reversed compared to standard SMA. An RP-SMA Male adapter is required to connect to external antennas with N Female ports. Do not use a standard SMA Male connector on an RP-SMA Female port. Verify the connector on your specific DSC module before ordering.

About the DSC Neo LTE Communicator

The DSC PowerSeries Neo is one of the most widely installed commercial alarm panels in Australia and globally. LTE communicator modules (such as the LE2080, TL880LTV, and similar) add 4G/LTE back-to-base communication to the Neo platform.

DSC provides the LTE-15ANT, LTE-25ANT, and LTE-50ANT extension kits for relocating the antenna. These are adequate for most installations. For shielded locations, fringe coverage sites, and basements, a higher-gain external antenna — connected via an RP-SMA adapter — provides superior results.

When to go beyond the DSC extension kit

Beyond the DSC LTE extension kit range

DSC's own LTE extension kits (LTE-15ANT, LTE-25ANT, LTE-50ANT) are limited to 50 feet and carry a low-gain antenna. For fringe sites, metal enclosures, or basements, a higher-gain external omni or Yagi significantly improves signal margin.

Metal enclosure and shielded plant rooms

The DSC Neo LTE communicator's antenna inside a metal enclosure is heavily attenuated. Route an RP-SMA cable through the enclosure to an external wall-mount omni — immediate improvement in cellular signal and monitoring reliability.

Commercial basement installations

DSC PowerSeries Neo is widely deployed in commercial premises. Basement and underground plant room installations require an external antenna routed to ground level or above. RP-SMA cable assembly from the communicator, N Female antenna at the external point.

Rural and semi-rural commercial sites

Farms, rural showrooms, and commercial sites in fringe coverage areas. The DSC Neo with a Yagi upgrade provides reliable 4G monitoring on towers at distance — where the standard DSC extension kit antenna cannot maintain signal.

High-gain directional antenna for DSC Neo installations in fringe coverage or remote commercial sites. RP-SMA Male to N Female adapter connects to the DSC LTE module's RP-SMA port. 11 dBi directional gain provides reliable monitoring on marginal 4G towers.
