Permaconn PM54
External Antenna Kit
The PM54 combines a 4G alarm communicator with a dual-SMA MIMO cellular modem. When the stub antenna isn't cutting it — plant rooms, basements, fringe sites — this guide covers the right external antenna and cable assembly for the job.

About the Permaconn PM54
The Permaconn PM54 is a next-generation alarm communicator and 4G router widely deployed across commercial and industrial alarm monitoring installations in Australia. It uses dual-SMA MIMO cellular ports plus a separate WiFi antenna port.
The included stub antennas perform well in open, above-ground environments. In metal enclosures, basements, and fringe-coverage sites, an external antenna is required — and MIMO gains are only realised when both antenna ports are connected to separate antennas with physical separation.
PM54 Antenna Ports
When an external antenna is required
Metal plant rooms and comms rooms
Steel enclosures and MDF rooms create a Faraday cage that kills the PM54's built-in stub antenna. A cable run to an external wall-mount omni restores full signal. Two cable runs for MIMO.
Basement and sub-level installs
Underground plant rooms commonly have –100 dBm or worse cellular signal. External antenna routed up to a street-level enclosure or external wall bracket solves this permanently.
Fringe and semi-rural sites
Remote commercial sites where the PM54's built-in antenna gives inconsistent signal. A 6 dBi external omni provides the link margin to hold a 4G connection on a marginal tower.
High-density apartment buildings
Multiple competing devices and building materials degrade signal on upper floors. External antenna positioned at the external face of the building dramatically improves signal quality and reliability.
Recommended D&G Products for PM54
All antennas and cable assemblies individually tested before dispatch. Custom cable runs quoted to your site drawings.
2x DG900MB-HG — 4G LTE MIMO Omni
MIMO dual-port omni for the PM54's two cellular antenna ports. 7 dBi at 1700–2700 MHz covers the high-band LTE the PM54 primarily uses. Mount to an external wall bracket or mast for maximum signal recovery in shielded locations.
DG900MB-HG — 5GNR Broadband Omni
For single-port PM54 antenna configurations or where MIMO is not required. Covers all Australian 4G bands from a single N-Female mount. Use with an N-Male to SMA-Male pigtail to connect to the PM54's SMA port.
SMA Male to N Female Pigtail
Adapter pigtail for connecting the PM54's SMA antenna port directly to the N-Female port on external D&G antennas. Supplied in 30 cm standard length — custom lengths available.
Custom Cable Assembly
For routing through conduit, cable trays, or concrete walls. LMR240 or LMR400 low-loss coax in any length. SMA or N at each end. Specify length, connectors, and cable type at order.
Why installers specify D&G for Permaconn sites
Matched MIMO pairs
MIMO performance depends on physical antenna separation and matched impedance. We supply matched MIMO pairs with consistent 50Ω performance, tested on Anritsu Site Master before dispatch.
Custom cable runs
No standard cable fits every plant room. We build SMA-to-N assemblies in any length, any cable spec. LMR240 for runs under 5m, LMR400 for longer runs through conduit.
Same-day Penrith pickup
If you need it today, we can have it ready at 1 Harford Street, Penrith. Call ahead for same-day cable assemblies.
OEM supply chain
Our antenna components are the same as those used in ADT, Johnson Controls, and Wormald monitoring systems across Australia. Not a reseller — the actual manufacturer.
