Dragino Gateway
External LoRa Antenna

Dragino is Australia's most widely deployed LoRaWAN gateway brand across agriculture, smart water, and industrial IoT. The DLOS8N (outdoor) uses N-Female and the LPS8N / LIG16 (indoor) use RP-SMA Female. This guide covers the correct D&G antenna and cable assembly for each model and scenario.

Dragino DLOS8N

The DLOS8N is Dragino's outdoor weatherproof gateway. N-Female port on the unit. Connect D&G DG900MB-HG via a N-Male to N-Male cable assembly — no adapters required. This is the most common Dragino model deployed in commercial AU IoT, agriculture, and smart water applications.

Dragino LPS8N

The LPS8N is Dragino's indoor Ethernet gateway. RP-SMA Female port. Connect D&G DG900MB-HG via an RP-SMA Male to N-Male pigtail, then route to an external antenna. Common upgrade: drill a cable gland through the wall and mount the omni externally for dramatically better coverage.

Dragino LIG16

16-channel indoor gateway, same RP-SMA Female antenna port as the LPS8N. Same D&G cable solution: RP-SMA Male to N-Male pigtail + DG900MB-HG externally. Useful where a single gateway must handle high traffic from large sensor deployments and signal reach is critical.

Recommended D&G products for Dragino gateways

All antennas cover the full AU915 band (902–928 MHz). Cable assemblies built to site specification.

DG900MB-HG — 5GNR Broadband Omni

Primary upgrade antenna for all Dragino gateways. For DLOS8N (N-Female): connect via N-Male to N-Male LMR cable assembly. For LPS8N/LIG16 (RP-SMA Female): connect via RP-SMA Male to N-Male pigtail. IP67 rated for permanent outdoor wall or mast mount.

DGY900-6 — Yagi Directional Antenna

For farms or sites with a directional sensor cluster. Point the Yagi toward the area of highest node density for maximum range. Pairs with N-Male to N-Male LMR400 cable from DLOS8N, or RP-SMA to N-Male pigtail + N-to-N extension from LPS8N.

N-Male to N-Male Cable Assembly

Direct cable for DLOS8N (N-Female port). LMR200 for up to 5 m mast runs. LMR400 for 5–15 m rooftop-to-gateway runs. Standard lengths: 3 m, 5 m, 10 m. Custom lengths built to order.

Freq
DC – 6 GHz
Connector
N-Male both ends, any length

RP-SMA Male to N-Male Pigtail

Adapter for LPS8N and LIG16 (RP-SMA Female port) to D&G N-Female external antennas. 30 cm standard. For longer runs through walls or to mast-mount, extend with a N-Male to N-Male LMR400 assembly.

Freq
DC – 6 GHz

RP-SMA Male → N Male, 30 cm

Common installation scenarios

DLOS8N on an agricultural water monitoring site

DLOS8N mounted on a farm shed wall at 4 m height. N-Male to N-Male LMR200 (3 m) from the DLOS8N N-Female port to an DG900MB-HG omni pole-mounted at 5 m. Expected coverage: 3–8 km across flat AU farmland at AU915, SF10. For directional paddock coverage, replace the omni with an DGY900-6 Yagi for 8–15 km range.

LPS8N indoor gateway — coverage upgrade

LPS8N sits inside a comms room. RP-SMA Male to N-Male 30 cm pigtail → cable gland through the external wall → DG900MB-HG wall-mounted outdoors. Coverage area effectively doubles compared to the supplied indoor rubber duck. No gateway change required — just one pigtail and one antenna.

DLOS8N rooftop deployment — multi-building campus

DLOS8N installed in the comms room, connected via N-Male to N-Male LMR400 (10 m run) to an DG900MB-HG mounted on the rooftop parapet. Single gateway covers an entire commercial or industrial campus from the rooftop position. LMR400 keeps cable loss under 0.85 dB over the 10 m run at 915 MHz.

LIG16 high-density network — low-loss upgrade

16-channel Dragino LIG16 deployed for a dense sensor network in a food processing or manufacturing facility. RP-SMA Male to N-Male pigtail from the RP-SMA Female port, through a wall gland, to an DG900MB-HG on an external bracket. The improved signal-to-noise at the gateway input reduces packet error rate across the full 16-channel capacity.
