Hikvision AX Pro
External 4G Antenna
The Hikvision AX Pro DS-PWA96 and DS-PWA64 alarm hubs include a built-in 4G cellular communicator with an SMA Female external antenna port. When the internal stub antenna is insufficient — metal enclosures, concrete construction, fringe-coverage sites — this guide covers the correct external antenna and cabling.

About the AX Pro 4G Hub
The Hikvision AX Pro is one of the fastest-growing alarm platforms in the Australian residential and light commercial market. The DS-PWA96 and DS-PWA64 hubs include an integrated 4G cellular module alongside Wi-Fi, providing dual-path connectivity to the Hik-Connect cloud and monitoring stations.
The AX Pro hub exposes an SMA Female antenna port on the rear of the unit for connecting an external 4G antenna. This port is commonly overlooked during commissioning but is the most reliable fix for signal issues in shielded or fringe-coverage installations.

Common installation scenarios
Metal cabinet installation
The AX Pro hub installed inside a metal cabinet or electrical enclosure has its internal stub antenna fully shielded. A short SMA pigtail exits through a cabinet knockout to an external omni, restoring full LTE signal to the hub.
Residential with poor indoor coverage
Modern residential construction — concrete slab, double brick, foil insulation — can attenuate 4G signals by 15–20 dB. An external antenna through the wall or ceiling gives the AX Pro's 4G communicator a reliable monitoring path.
Commercial and retail premises
The AX Pro is increasingly used in commercial retail and office security. Steel frame construction and reflective glass facades regularly create coverage holes. An external antenna resolves signal issues without requiring a carrier site survey.
Dual-path monitoring setup
When the AX Pro is configured with both Wi-Fi and 4G monitoring paths, a strong 4G signal via an external antenna ensures the backup path is actually reliable — not marginal. A failed 4G path that isn't tested is the same as no backup.
Recommended D&G Products for AX Pro
All antennas and cable assemblies individually tested. Custom cable assemblies quoted to site drawings.
DG900MB-HG — 5GNR Broadband Omni
Primary external antenna for the AX Pro DS-PWA96. The hub's SMA Female 4G antenna port connects via a short pigtail to this external omni. Resolves signal loss in metal cabinets, plant rooms, and basements where the internal stub antenna is attenuated by building structure.
DGY900-6 — Yagi Directional Antenna
For AX Pro installations at fringe-coverage rural or industrial sites. Point toward the nearest LTE tower. 11 dBi delivers substantial gain over the hub's internal stub antenna for sites where the AX Pro app shows weak cellular signal.
SMA Male to N Male Pigtail
Connects the AX Pro hub's SMA Female port to the N Female input on D&G external antennas. 30 cm standard. Custom lengths available for routing through enclosure knockouts and short conduit runs.
Custom Cable Assembly
Low-loss LMR240 or LMR400 for routing the AX Pro 4G path through conduit or cable trays to an external antenna mount. Built to your site specification.
Why AX Pro installers specify D&G
100% tested, not sampled
Every antenna and cable assembly is tested on an Anritsu Site Master before dispatch. A marginal 4G antenna on an AX Pro site is a callback — we eliminate that at source.
OEM supplier to the monitoring industry
Our antennas are inside ADT, Johnson Controls, and Wormald monitoring infrastructure across Australia. The same build quality and test standard is in every product we supply.
Custom cable assemblies
We build SMA connector cable assemblies in any length. LMR240 for standard runs, LMR400 for longer cable paths through conduit where insertion loss is critical.
