Paradox EVO192 / EVO48
External 4G Antenna

The Paradox PCS250G GPRS/4G communicator — used across the EVO192, EVO48, EVO48W, and SP series — features a standard SMA Female antenna port. When the supplied stub antenna can't deliver reliable signal from metal enclosures, basements, or fringe sites, this guide covers the right external antenna and cabling for the PCS250G.

About the Paradox EVO Communicator

The Paradox EVO192 and EVO48 are among the most widely installed alarm panels in the Australian commercial and residential markets. The PCS250G GPRS communicator module adds 4G/cellular connectivity to any EVO or SP series panel, providing the primary or backup communication path to the monitoring station.

The PCS250G exposes an SMA Female antenna port. The standard rubber stub antenna is adequate in many open installations but frequently insufficient in steel enclosures, below-grade plant rooms, or sites at the edge of 4G coverage.

Common installation scenarios

Metal enclosure blocking PCS250G stub

The Paradox EVO enclosure is steel sheet. The PCS250G stub antenna is mounted inside. A short SMA Male to N Male pigtail exits through a knockout to an external omni omni mounted on the outside of the enclosure or the adjacent wall.

Commercial basement plant room

Paradox EVO panels in basement plant rooms are common in commercial and multi-storey residential. Route a low-loss coaxial from the PCS250G through conduit to an external antenna at street level or on the roof.

Industrial and rural commercial sites

Remote commercial sites — agricultural business, rural showrooms, mine-site administration — may have marginal 4G coverage. A directional yagi toward the nearest tower provides the margin for reliable EVO monitoring.

Post-PSTN PSTN communicator swap

Many Paradox EVO installations were commissioned with PSTN monitoring. After copper network shutdown, the PCS250G is the direct 4G replacement. If signal is marginal, an external antenna resolves the issue at commissioning rather than on a callback.

Recommended D&G Products for Paradox EVO

All antennas and cable assemblies individually tested. Custom cable assemblies quoted to site drawings.

DG900MB-HG — 5GNR Broadband Omni

Primary recommendation for the PCS250G SMA Female port. 6 dBi at mid-band LTE recovers signal from metal enclosures, plant rooms, and building basements. Pole or wall bracket mount. Pair with the SMA Male to N Male pigtail below.

Freq
600–7100 MHz
Connector
N Female, 45 cm pigtail
Rating
IP65

DGY900-6 — Yagi Directional Antenna

For Paradox EVO installations in rural or fringe-coverage commercial sites. Point toward the nearest Telstra or Optus tower. 11 dBi at high-band LTE provides substantial link margin over the stub antenna supplied with the PCS250G.

SMA Male to N Male Pigtail

Connects the PCS250G SMA Female port to the N Female port on D&G external antennas. 30 cm standard. Custom lengths available for enclosure knockout routing and longer conduit runs.

Freq
DC – 6 GHz
Connector
SMA Male → N Male, 30 cm

Custom Cable Assembly

Low-loss LMR240 or LMR400 for routing through plant rooms, conduit, or cable trays to an external antenna mount. Built to your site specification. SMA or N at each end.

Freq
DC – 6 GHz
Connector
SMA Male → N Male, any length

Why Paradox installers specify D&G

100% tested, not sampled

Every antenna and cable assembly is tested on an Anritsu Site Master before dispatch. A failed antenna on a commercial Paradox EVO site is a callback and a failed inspection — we eliminate that risk at source.

OEM supplier to the monitoring industry

Our antennas are inside ADT, Johnson Controls, and Wormald monitoring infrastructure across Australia. The same build quality and test standard is in every product we supply.

Custom cable assemblies

We build SMA connector cable assemblies in any length. LMR240 for standard runs, LMR400 for long cable paths through conduit where insertion loss is critical.
