Honeywell Galaxy Flex
External 4G Antenna

The Honeywell Galaxy Flex 20, Flex 50, and Flex 100 use the CF4 4G cellular communicator module, which features a standard SMA Female antenna port. Where the supplied stub antenna can't deliver reliable signal from metal enclosures, commercial floors, or fringe sites, this guide covers the correct external antenna and cabling.

About the Galaxy Flex Communicator

The Honeywell Galaxy Flex range is widely used in Australian commercial, retail, and industrial security applications. The CF4 cellular communicator module adds 4G connectivity to Galaxy Flex panels, providing a direct primary or backup path to the monitoring station without relying on PSTN infrastructure.

The CF4 exposes an SMA Female antenna port on the module face. The supplied rubber stub antenna performs adequately in open environments but is inadequate in steel enclosures, shielded plant rooms, or locations with marginal LTE coverage.

Common installation scenarios

Galaxy Flex in steel enclosure

The Galaxy Flex enclosure is powder-coated steel. The CF4 stub antenna is located inside. A short SMA Male to N Male pigtail exits through a knockout to an external omni mounted on the enclosure exterior or the adjacent wall.

Commercial office and retail premises

The Galaxy Flex is common in multi-tenancy commercial buildings. Signal quality on mid-floor plant levels is often poor due to building structure attenuation. An external antenna mounted in the ceiling space or on the building exterior resolves this reliably.

Post-PSTN monitoring upgrade

Large numbers of Galaxy Flex systems were commissioned with PSTN monitoring. The CF4 is the 4G replacement communicator. Where signal is marginal after installation, an external antenna resolves the issue at commissioning rather than after a signal-loss alarm.

Industrial and logistics sites

Warehousing, distribution centres, and manufacturing sites often have heavy steel-frame construction that attenuates mobile signals. An external antenna mounted on the building exterior or roofline ensures continuous 4G monitoring path.

Recommended D&G Products for Galaxy Flex

All antennas and cable assemblies individually tested. Custom cable assemblies quoted to site drawings.

DG900MB-HG — 5GNR Broadband Omni

Primary antenna for Galaxy Flex installations with a CF4 communicator. The SMA Female port on the CF4 connects via a short pigtail to this external omni. 6 dBi recovers signal from steel enclosures, plant rooms, and signal-shielded commercial premises.

DGY900-6 — Yagi Directional Antenna

For Galaxy Flex installations at commercial or industrial sites with marginal 4G coverage. Point toward the nearest Telstra or Optus LTE tower. 11 dBi at high-band provides substantial link margin over the CF4 stub antenna.

Why Galaxy installers specify D&G

100% tested, not sampled

Every antenna and cable assembly is tested on an Anritsu Site Master before dispatch. A failed CF4 antenna on a commercial Galaxy site is a callback and a failed inspection — we remove that risk at source.

OEM supplier to the monitoring industry

Our antennas are inside ADT, Johnson Controls, and Wormald monitoring infrastructure across Australia. The same build quality and test standard applies to every product we supply.

Custom cable assemblies

We build SMA connector cable assemblies in any length. LMR240 for standard runs, LMR400 for long paths through conduit where insertion loss is critical.
