Tecom Advisor Advanced
4G Antenna Upgrade

The Tecom Advisor Advanced (ATS Master Controller) is widely upgraded to 4G monitoring using the Permaconn RM3119 communicator module, which features a standard SMA Female antenna port. This guide covers the correct external antenna and cabling when the Permaconn stub antenna isn't delivering reliable signal.

Tecom Advisor 4G Upgrade — How It Works

The Tecom Advisor Advanced and Advisor Master are among the most widely deployed alarm panels in the Australian commercial and retail markets. Most existing installations were commissioned with PSTN monitoring. With the copper network shutdown complete, 4G cellular monitoring via a Permaconn communicator is now the standard upgrade path.

The Permaconn RM3119 connects to the Advisor's telephone interface and bridges the panel to a 4G monitoring path. The RM3119 exposes an SMA Female external antenna port. In steel enclosures or shielded plant rooms, an external antenna is required for reliable signal.

Common installation scenarios

Permaconn communicator in steel enclosure

The Tecom Advisor enclosure is steel. When a Permaconn RM3119 is installed inside for 4G monitoring, the stub antenna is shielded by the enclosure walls. A short SMA pigtail exits through a knockout to an external omni on the enclosure exterior.

PSTN-to-4G upgrade on existing Advisor install

Many Advisor Advanced systems were originally commissioned with PSTN monitoring. The Permaconn RM3119 is the standard drop-in 4G replacement via the panel's telephone interface. Where signal is marginal after swapping, an external antenna fixes the issue at the first visit.

Commercial and industrial premises

The Advisor Advanced is common in commercial retail, hospitality, and light industrial premises. Steel frame buildings and basement plant rooms regularly create signal voids. An external antenna through the wall or ceiling ensures continuous monitoring.

Multi-tenancy buildings

In multi-storey commercial or residential buildings, the Advisor enclosure is often located in a plant cupboard or meter room. Building structure between the panel and the nearest tower can reduce signal by 20 dB or more. An external antenna at or near the exterior resolves this.

Recommended D&G Products for Tecom Advisor

All antennas and cable assemblies individually tested. Custom cable assemblies quoted to site drawings.

DG900MB-HG — 5GNR Broadband Omni

Primary antenna for Tecom Advisor panels using Permaconn RM3119 or RM3131 as the 4G communicator. The Permaconn SMA Female port connects via a short pigtail to this external omni. Recovers signal in steel enclosures, plant rooms, and below-grade installations.

DGY900-6 — Yagi Directional Antenna

For Tecom Advisor installations at industrial or rural commercial sites with marginal 4G coverage. Point toward the nearest Telstra or Optus tower. 11 dBi at high-band LTE provides substantial link margin over the Permaconn stub antenna.

Why Tecom installers specify D&G

100% tested, not sampled

Every antenna and cable assembly is tested on an Anritsu Site Master before dispatch. A failed Permaconn antenna on a commercial Tecom site is a callback and a monitoring gap — we eliminate that risk at source.

OEM supplier to the monitoring industry

Our antennas are inside ADT, Johnson Controls, and Wormald monitoring infrastructure across Australia. The same build quality and test standard is in every product we supply.

Custom cable assemblies

We build SMA connector cable assemblies in any length. LMR240 for standard runs, LMR400 for long cable paths through conduit where insertion loss is critical.
