RAK Wireless Gateway
External LoRa Antenna
RAK Wireless WisGate gateways split into two connector types: the RAK7268 (indoor) uses RP-SMA Female, while the RAK7240 and RAK7289 (outdoor) use N-Female. This guide covers the correct D&G antenna and cable assembly for each model on the AU915 band.

RAK7268 / RAK7268V2 (WisGate Edge Lite 2)
RAK's most popular indoor LoRaWAN gateway. RP-SMA Female port — requires an RP-SMA Male to N-Male pigtail to connect to D&G N-Female external antennas. The V2 adds Wi-Fi onboarding but uses the same RP-SMA antenna port. Very widely deployed in Australian TTN, NNNCo private networks, and enterprise integrations.
RAK7240 (WisGate Edge Prime)
RAK's outdoor enterprise gateway. N-Female port with a 5 dBi fiberglass antenna supplied. For sites where the supplied 5 dBi antenna is insufficient (marginal signal, building obstruction), upgrade to D&G DG900MB-HG (higher gain) or DGY900-6 Yagi (directional) via N-Male to N-Male cable assembly.
RAK7289 / RAK7289V2 (WisGate Edge Pro)
RAK's flagship outdoor gateway. N-Female port, ships with 5 dBi fiberglass. IP67 rated. The V2 adds 5G cellular backhaul capability — for sites using 5G, the cellular antenna also uses SMA Female ports. For LoRa antenna upgrade: N-Male to N-Male cable assembly from the gateway N-Female port to D&G omni or Yagi.
Recommended D&G products for RAK Wireless
All antennas cover AU915 (902–928 MHz). Cable assemblies built to specification.
DG900MB-HG — 5GNR Broadband Omni
Antenna upgrade for RAK7240 and RAK7289 outdoor gateways (N-Female port). Also connects to RAK7268 via RP-SMA Male to N-Male pigtail. Covers the full AU915 band (902–928 MHz) and all Australian 4G bands. IP67 for outdoor permanent installation on mast or wall bracket.
DGY900-6 — Yagi Directional Antenna
For RAK7240/7289 deployments where nodes are in a specific direction — agriculture, linear pipeline or fence monitoring, point-to-point repeater links. 6–11 dBi toward the node cluster. N-Male to N-Male cable from RAK7240/7289 N-Female port.
RP-SMA Male to N-Male Pigtail
Adapter for RAK7268 (RP-SMA Female port) to D&G N-Female external antennas. 30 cm standard. For external antenna runs through a wall or out to a mast, follow with a N-Male to N-Male LMR cable assembly to complete the run.
N-Male to N-Male Cable Assembly
For RAK7240 and RAK7289 (N-Female port). LMR200 for up to 5 m. LMR400 for 5–15 m rooftop or mast runs. Standard lengths 3 m, 5 m, 10 m. Custom lengths built to site specification.
Common installation scenarios
RAK7268 indoor — wall-penetrating external antenna
RAK7268 inside a comms room or IDF cabinet. RP-SMA Male to N-Male 30 cm pigtail from the RAK's RP-SMA port, through an IP68-rated cable gland in the external wall, to an DG900MB-HG mounted on the building exterior. Coverage area doubles or triples compared to the indoor stub antenna. No gateway replacement — one pigtail and one antenna.
RAK7289V2 rooftop deployment
RAK7289V2 on a commercial or industrial rooftop — IP67 rated, can mount directly in the weather. N-Male to N-Male LMR400 (up to 5 m) from the RAK7289 N-Female port to an DG900MB-HG on a rooftop mast bracket. The supplied 5 dBi fiberglass is good; D&G DG900MB-HG achieves equivalent gain but with better UV stability for the Australian sun.
RAK7240 agricultural site — directional deployment
RAK7240 gateway at a farm pivot point. Sensor nodes are spread across paddocks in one direction. Replace the supplied 5 dBi omni with an DGY900-6 Yagi (6–11 dBi) pointed at the sensor cluster via N-Male to N-Male LMR400. Range increases from 3–5 km to 8–15 km depending on terrain. The RAK7240 is IP65 rated — mount on a pole at 5 m height for best propagation.
RAK7289V2 with 5G cellular backhaul
The RAK7289V2 adds a 5G cellular backhaul option. The 5G cellular antenna uses SMA Female ports on the RAK unit — separate from the N-Female LoRa antenna port. D&G can supply both: N-Male to N-Male LMR cable for the LoRa port AND SMA Male cable assemblies for the 5G cellular ports. One supplier, one order for a complete antenna solution.
